About 100 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from Obingwa local government area of Abia State, have dumped the party for the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.

The incumbent Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu hails from Obingwa local government area.

The leader of the defected PDP members from Itukpa Obingwa Ward 4, Kingsley Ogbonna, who made this known to newsmen, on Sunday, explained that they left the PDP due to alleged incompetence of Governor Ikpeazu-led administration to provide dividends of democracy to the Abia masses.

Ogbonna promised on behalf of other decampees to replicate the support given to the PDP in 2015 to APGA in the upcoming 2019 general elections, so as to liberate Abia people from clutches of bad PDP governance.

He expressed conviction on the qualities of the APGA governorship candidate, Alex Otti, whom he said has the willpower and experience to clear the mess allegedly heaped upon the state by the ruling PDP.

Ogbonna said, “We want to promise the leadership of APGA that we will get over 300 and above PDP members and supporters to register as APGA members in Obingwa”.

In his speech, the chairman of APGA in Obingwa local government area, Engr. Kelechi Anthony, commended the new members of the party for taking right decision.

He also urged them to show steadfastness and loyalty hence they stand to benefit from the transformation agenda of Otti.
