Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu and Sir Marc Wabara, have formed a formidable alliance to make the state the strongest political fortress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South East. At the weekend in Ohambele Ndoki, Ukwa East Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, Dr. Kalu declared his 100 per cent support for Wabara’s candidature, as APC aspirant for Abia South Senatorial District.
Kalu, who is also an APC aspirant for Abia North Senatorial District, said he decided to stand with Wabara so that both of them together, will restore the image of Abia and bring back dividends of democracy to the state.
Speaking through Barr Ben Kalu, at the occasion marking the official declaration of Sir Marc Wabara to run for the Senate, the business mogul said he is confident that Wabara’s declaration is the birth of a political revolution in the state as one of the credible men to work with to bring change to Abia. “Today, I associate myself with a great son of Abia State.
He’s a very good friend of mine. He’s a man that can tell my story without error. He has proven himself trustworthy in anything he does. He doesn’t talk too much, but his voice is always heard from far and wide. “I have confidence in him as both a man and a friend. I do not need just anybody to work with, I need real men. The work of saving Abia from poor representatives is work for generals and Wabara is a general.
“When political generals like him and I work together, we’ll win the battle and win the war. I’ll stand with him in the Red Chamber and we’ll bring back the dividends of democracy to this zone.” Emphasising on Abia’s poor representation at the National Assembly, Kalu said: “The man PDP sent there served under me as deputy governor and I knew he can’t do much for this zone. For all the years he has being there, he has not brought the satisfaction that this Senatorial Zone desires and deserves.”
Speaking during his declaration, Sir Marc Wabara, former Managing Director of Hallmark Bank, and younger brother to the former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, said no amount of infantile intimidation by the ruling party in the state will stop change in Abia come 2019 and described the vandalising of his posters and billboards as a good sign of victory. Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari while speaking through his Personal Assistant and member, Presidential Technical Committee, Dr. Waje Bayel endorsed Wabara and urged the people of Abia South to rewrite their history by sending a servant leader, who knows their pains.
