2019: Police warn politicians in Bayelsa against violence, thuggery

Ahead of 2019 general elections in the country, the Commissioner of Police in Bayelsa State, Mr Joseph Mukan, has warned politicians in the state against any form of violence which could threatened the security of the state.

Mukan, who gave the warning during a meeting with chairmen of all political parties in the state on Monday, also cautioned those allegedly planning to move with arms during election to desist from it as the law will take its due course.

The police chief also assured the people that they will do everything possible to ensure free and fair election in 2019.

He said: “ Let me appealed to all parents to cushion their children, because police will enforce the full weight of the law on those that will be found wanting because of electoral violence.”

“The police command is equally collaborating with sisters agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the service chiefs to ensure violent free election here in Bayelsa.”
