Akure—Four persons, Monday night in Ondo State, died in an auto crash while returning from a night party in Ondo town.
Eyewitness account said the crash occurred at Yaba Street in Ondo town, shortly after a downpour in the area.
Vanguard learned that the crash involved a brown-coloured Volvo car with number plates ANAMBRA 265 AAH, and a truck with number plates LAGOS 858 EKY, at about 10:30p.m.
Vanguard gathered that the Volvo driver, who was coming from Agbogboke area, tried to avoid running over an Okada rider, and rammed into a stationary truck.
Sympathisers, who rushed to the scene of the crash, had a tough time removing the mangled bodies and personal belongings.
The Unit Head of Operations, Ondo town Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mrs. Mary Oladele, confirmed the accident and described it as unfortunate.
Oladele said that on receipt of the distress call, she immediately directed a rescue team to the scene.
Also, a senior police officer attached to the Motor Traffic Division, MTD, Yaba Divisional Police Station, who spoke in confidence, said three persons died on the spot, while the fourth person died in hospital.
He said he and his officers participated in the rescue operation upon the receipt of the information on the crash from a sympathiser.
