THE All Progressives Congress, APC, in Akwa Ibom State, has alleged plots by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to rig the local government election billed for December 2.
Chairman of the APC Local Government Election Campaign Committee, Senator Aloysius Etok, made the allegation during a press conference, yesterday, at the party’s secretariat in Uyo.
Etok alleged that information revealed that there were plans by Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission, AKISIEC, to rig the council poll in favour of the PDP.
Etok said: “The APC is getting increasingly concerned following veritable information of clandestine moves by the PDP in collusion with the State Independent Electoral Commission, AKISIEC, to gain undue advantage in the December 2 local government election.
“We wish to alert the electorate, International Election Monitoring Groups, Civil Liberties Organisation, Non Governmental Organisations, the general public and the respective security agencies of the conspiracy and grand design by AKISIEC in collusion with PDP to perfect the plot to rig the election in favour of the PDP thereby fraudulently derail the local government election in the state.”
