Akpabio rubbishes alleged PDP rift in Akwa Ibom | News24 Nigeria


Abuja – Senate Minority leader, Godswill
Akpabio, has denied any rift between him and Akwa Ibom Governor, Undom
Emmanuel, who is his successor.

Speaking in Abuja at a recent event to celebrate the 50th
birthday of Special Adviser to the governor on Security Matters, Captain
Iniobong Ekong, Akpabio attributed the speculation to the governor’s so-called

These have alleged Akpabio and a number of senators and
House of Representatives were working against Emmanuel.

The former governor, who was at the helm for eight years
until 2015, dismissed such speculation saying the members were “solidly” behind

The reports of rift suggested all was not well in the
People’s Democratic Party in the state south of the country.
