..commend Obiano, security agents
The Bayelsa State Governor, the Hon. Seriake Dickson yesterday mocked the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the State over lack of proper democratic conduct during elections as compared to their counpart in Anambra State.
Governor Seriake Dickson, while congratulating Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State for his re-election victory in last Saturday Governorship election, said though the APC in Anambra were peaceful during the poll compared to the alleged violent conduct of their counterpart in the state during the 2016 Governorship poll.
Governor Dickson, in a statement issued and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Francis Ottah Agbo specifically praised the APC politicians in Anambra State for their maturity and for not taking advantage of the APC-led Federal Government to foment trouble before, during and after the election.
Dickson, therefore, advised the opposition politicians in Bayelsa not to use APC as a cover to perpetrate violence and criminality in the state like they did during the last governorship election.
“Unlike Anambra, in Bayelsa elections are conducted at the price of several lives with records of deaths and mayhem visited on many hapless citizens in various communities by mindless brigands, who clearly are acting of those who do not respect the democratic process and who equally have scant regard for the sanctity of lives and property”
The Governor, however, warned that, his restoration government was alive to its responsibility and would as usual, stop at nothing to bring the perpetrators of crime and criminality to JusticeObiano’s victory was democracy in action.
Governor Dickson also commended the security agencies, political parties and the political elites for ensuring that the election was peaceful
“While I congratulate my brother Governor, Chief Willie Obiano for the resounding victory, I want to particularly commend the security agencies, political parties and other relevant agencies for ensuring that the election was peaceful. I am happy that no life was lost and for me, this is good for our democracy.”
Gov. Dickson called on Bayelsa politicians to take a cue from the Anambra election by playing by the rules of the game at all times.
