Aggrieved Members Believe APC Will Lose In The 2019 Election
In respect to the crisis in the All Progressives Congress, Imo State chapter, a group of aggrieved members of the party, under the aegis Good Governance Forum (GGF), have been alleged to have met with the leadership of the Social Democratic Party in a plan to defect to the party formally.
Recall that Naija News had earlier reported that Rochas Okorocha, the Governor of the state while speaking on the declaration of public holiday in the state so as to enable eligible voters in the state register for PVCs, stated that a committee had been put together so has to meet with aggrieved members.
The statement of the decamping was revealed in a statement by Godsent Chilos, the publicity secretary of SDP in Imo State.
In the statement it was revealed that with the crisis in the Imo State APC there is high possibility that the party will lose in the State come 2019.
The leaders of the aggrieved APC group in the statement also revealed that their membership are all across the 27 LGAs and the 305 wards in the state.
Chilos quoted them as saying, “Our attraction to SDP is as a result of the grass root strength of SDP. SDP’s commitment to restructuring of Nigeria and operation of Open Government when elected to power, adherence to the principles of internal democracy, harmonious co-existence and respect to the democratic rights of members.
“We think that SDP is the only Party in Imo State that has brighter chances of winning the Governorship of Imo State including majority in the State House of Assembly in 2019, because APC and PDP has failed imolites.
“We shall formerly announce their defection to SDP before the end of August 2018 in Owerri”.
