CBN Anchor Borrowers: 227 Bayelsa rice farmers get inputs

The Central Bank of Nigeria, through its Anchor Borrower Programme, has distributed pesticides and fertilisers to about 227 rice farmers in Bayelsa State.
The state’s chairman of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ezikel Ogbianko, who disclosed this during the flag off of wet season farming in Yenagoa yesterday, commended the federal government for initiating the anchor borrowers scheme to support farmers across all the states.
He said: “We have gathered here today for the distribution of CBN inputs to farmers and to flag-off wet season farming in Bayelsa State, already, we have acquired 5, 000 hectares of land across the eight local government, we are done with the dry season, though, we are still waiting for the harvest.
“That is why I urge all farmers not to be discouraged, but work harder for us to achieve sufficient rice for the people in the state and nation at large.”
Ezombode Stanley, Principal Manager, CBN, Bayelsa Office, urged the farmers to make good use of the inputs.
One of the benefiting farmers, Pere Eteku, said he was happy to be part of the programme and promised to utilize the inputs well.
