The Delta state Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) has sacked the president, Oshimili South Area customary Court, Asaba, Patrick Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, for incompetence, misappropriation of funds, and indiscriminate striking out of cases.
The state chief Judge, Justice Marshal Umuokoro who confirmed this to DAILY POST in Asaba on Monday, Said the sacked President was fired for overwhelming evidence of corrupt practices,misappropriation of funds including indiscriminate striking out of cases, adding that the Judicial Commission also sacked six other judiciary staff for gross indiscipline and violation of public service rules and regulations.
Justice Marshal Umuokoro also affirmed the recommendations of the investigation panel, and accordingly compulsorily retired one Barrister John Nwokobia ,Assistant Director for unauthorized and illegal withdrawal of money from an account operated by the court, and converted same for personal use.
While considering several disciplinary reports submitted to it, the commission equally dismissed one Mathew Happy Edirin,(driver) for abandonment of duty, negligence, insubordination, and gross misconduct, even as Akpotohwho Godday was demoted from the post of chief driver, GL07 to that of senior motor driver Mechanic GL06 while, Mr Augustine Akatugba was issued a warning letter.
Justice Umokoro further disclosed that one Patrick Ezeute and Bridget Ogunmola were exonerated by the commission, while the case of Mr,Ebute Moses who converted to personal use money ordered by court in suit to be lodged into an account was deferred for further investigation.
He said, ” the commission also set up a committee to look into the petition against one Mrs Elizabeth Uviahered Omoru ,while the reinstatement of one Augustine Odivgwe into the state judiciary service as President Grade 11,GL 15, takes effect from 5th June, 2018 based on the Judgement of the National industrial court. “
