BENIN—FOLLOWING the appointment of the secretary of Edo State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Osaro Idah, as Special Adviser on Political Matters and Community Development, by Governor Godwin Obaseki, the state chapter of the party yesterday, appointed Mr Lawrence Orka as the new state secretary of the party.
The decision was reached at a meeting of the state caucus of the party led by former governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Announcing the resolution yesterday, the state chairman of the party, Anslem Ojezua, said that the party decided to make the minor shakeup due to the appointment of Chief Idah by the governor of the state.
He said: “Arising from that, we as state executive, appointed Lawrence Okah to be the party’s state secretary until the next congress. That was one of the resolutions we took. So, it is a joyous occasion for us. Lawrence Okah is a tested and trusted party leader.
“I have personally had opportunity to work with him over the years. And therefore, for us, he is a round peg in a round hole. And I am very happy with the new development. And that is the basic decision we have taken today (yesterday.”he stated.
In his response, Orka expressed gratitude to the party leadership for bestowing on him the responsibility assuring that “We will continue to promote peace in the party and will ensure there is regular state executive meeting even up to the grass root.”
