Among the four victims, two were said to have come from Abuja to work on the gas cylinder, with one of them surviving the tragedy with severe injuries. The other two victims were said to be the staff of the fuel station.

It was discovered that apart from the deceased, the administrative block of the fuel station, was shattered by the explosion, with a Honda vehicle parked inside the station wrecked.

Some of the residents, who spoke to Vanguard, said the explosion occurred during the installation of some of the equipment of the gas cylinder.

Some argued that lack of maintenance and provision of water around the gas cylinder to douse the pressure could have caused the explosion.

Contacted, Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, said he will get back after speaking with the DPO of the Division of the area where the incident occurred, but had not done so at press time.
