Nigeria’s house of representatives says it remains resolute on its demand for the report on the death of one Rita Uchebuego at the federal medical Centre Asaba, Dela State, South South Nigeria.
The house committee on public petitions said this when the medical director of the centre, Victor Osiatuma, and some of his staff appeared before it to update the lawmakers on the investigation into Rita’s death.
The medical director, federal medical centre, Asaba, doctor Victor Osiatuma said the report on the death of Rita Uchebuego has been forwarded to the minister of health Isaac adewole for review and only after then will it be made public.
Doctor osiatuma said at the resumed hearing of the house committee on public petitions on unraveling the death of Rita Uchebuego who died in the hospital during child birth that authorities of the medical centre were doing all they can to resolve the issue.
But the lawmakers insisted for the third time on getting the report on the death of Mrs. Uchebuego from authorities of the federal medical Centre Asaba.
The consultant assigned to Mrs. Uchebuego before her death, doctor Ojenuakul Sunday indicted the hospital management as he revealed that the hospital’s unethical behaviour lead to the death of Rita Uchebuego and other women.
The family of the deceased pleaded with the committee to prevail on the federal medical Centre Asaba to produce a truthful report on the matter and its quick release.
The committee added another one month to the initial three months for the investigation to be completed and the report submitted to the committee.
