Imo Government Donates Secretariat To NUJ

Governor Rochas Okorocha performed the ceremony to herald the maiden edition of the Imo NUJ media summit.

Speaking on the theme, “media and credible leadership”, the Imo State Governor charged Nigerian journalists to do more of investigative journalism especially as the country moves closer to the 2019 general elections.

Commissioner for information, Professor Nnamdi Obiareri commended the state chapter of the NUJ for organizing the programme, stressing that the Okorocha-led administration has provided a good environment for journalism to thrive in the state.

Earlier, chairman of the Imo State Chapter of NUJ, Innocent Igwe explained that the media summit was aimed at bringing journalists in the state together to share professional ideas preparatory to the coverage of the electioneering season.

After the lecture, Governor Okorocha led other guests to the premises of the newly constructed secretariat  to commission and handover the project.
