The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) staged a major comeback bid last Friday when they organized a mega rally to receive some top politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State.
The Imo State APGA received the former State Chairman of the PDP in the State, the 2011 governorship campaign manager of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, the leader of the popular Imo Alliance for Good Governance and the leader of the True Democrats in the PDP, Dr. Alex Obi, Chief Charles Onyeagbako, among others.
Speaking at the epoch making event which was held at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Arena, Dr Obi said the Imo State PDP has been enmeshed in acts of impunity and imposition, noting that the party has been hijacked by some people he described as the cabal.
He also noted that the PDP umbrella which used to house everyone has been torn to shreds by conflicting big egos in the party which have proved impossible to assuage.
He described the PDP in Imo State as darkness, saying that it may not be able to find its feet again in the 2019 general elections.
He said that only APGA is the party that is in line with the culture of the Igbo man and called on Imo people to embrace it.
The political veteran also described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a failed party, saying that the party introduced hunger in the state, which he said had led to untimely deaths.
Also speaking at the event, National Chairman of APGA, Chief Dr Victor Oye said he was happy for the huge defection to his party, assuring that the party was ready to take over the governorship of the State in 2019.
He further assured that things would be better when the party takes over the governance of the state, even as he said that Imo would become like Anambra State where pensions and salaries would be paid as at when due.
