Kidnappers of Bayelsa lawmaker’s father want N70m

YENAGOA—Kidnappers of Chief W. G. Watson Iti, father of the member representing Brass Constituency II in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Mr. Alfred Belimote Watson, have reportedly demanded N70 million ransom for his release.

The kidnappers were said to have contacted Alfred with his father’s phone number Saturday night, requesting N70 million before Wednesday for his father’s release.

Chief Watson Iti, a septuagenarian, was abducted Saturday night on his way to Egweama community from Okpoama community in Brass Local Government Area of the state.

A family source, who confirmed the ransom demand, said: “The kidnappers contacted the lawmaker with his father’s phone demanding N70 ransom.

“Before the abduction, we heard  that papa was on his way to bury his late wife, Mrs Comfort Watson, when the gunmen attacked their commercial speed boat and whisked him to an unknown destination.”

Contacted Mr. Alfred Belimote Watson confirmed the incident.
