YENEGOA—A FORMER Security Adviser to Bayelsa State government, Chief Perekeme Kpadoh, has said that past administrations in the state and former federal lawmakers were responsible for the poor implementation of the state’s development plan and the general development of the state.

He particularly blamed former President Goodluck Jonathan and the administration of ex-governor Timipreye Sylva for allegedly ignoring the development of the state.

Kpadoh in a statement urged the state government to build a major market in the state as a follow-up to the Agge Sea Port construction agreement it signed earlier.

His words: ‘’Those defending the past administrations of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Timipre Sylva should have a rethink.  Look at how poorly planned the state capital is after 17 years . Past governors should come and give an account of their stewardship. These people have taken us for a ride in 17 years…

“It is time for accountability. The State is backward compared to other states. You can’t count the number of vehicles that come to Lagos because business is thriving. But at the entry point into Yenagoa, there is heavy security presence because business is low and nearly non-existent. If the business was booming, such security presence will stop.

There is no major market in the state.  We only have two community markets in Swali and Opolo. What we need is a major market such as the Onitsha market. We need a huge market such as the Alaba International Market in Yenagoa. These markets promote business activities and lead to major increase in revenue.”
