Less than a year after the certification of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority plans to certify Port Harcourt International Airport and Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano.
Regulatory authority officials told our correspondent that the certification had reached the second phase.
The second phase, it was gathered, is the technical inspection of facilities on ground at the airports.
Already, a seven-man team has already been deployed to Port Harcourt to carry out the technical work. “The team comprising six males and one female would scrutinize the manuals submitted by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for the purpose of certification”, a source said.
They are expected to round up with the second phase of the certification exercise at the two airports by July 16, 2018.
“All things being equal, the certification would be completed before the end of the year”, another source added.
