Abuja — The Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday announced that it has augmented the total cost of the Mangu Dam project in Plateau State to N13.2 billion.Briefing State House Correspondents after the meeting, Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity Garba Shehu said the original cost of the project was N5.66 billion, but was augmented by N7.66 billion.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who presided over the meeting also approved the augmentation of the contract for the rehabilitation of the burnt Marina bridge and maintenance of Eko (Apongbon) and Iddo bridges in Lagos. The cost is now N114.424 million.

He said the contract was awarded at the cost representing 12 per cent of the original contract sum thereby revising the contract from N957. 053 million to N1.071 billion, with additional completion period of six months .

Minister of Defence, Brigadier-General Mansur Dan-Ali presented the status of the implementation of approved capital projects and achievements of the ministry from 2015 to 2017.

Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Ugoro Usani said council yesterday approved the design of section five of the East West road in Akwa Ibom to Calabar in Cross Rivers State.

Minister Budget and National Planning Sentaor Udoma Udo Udoma briefed council on the progress recorded by the Nigerian economy.He said the country had finally exited from the recession, which it plummeted into in 2016 with a growth of 1.92 per cent.
