Wife of Imo State Governor, Nkechi Rochas Okorocha, has enjoined youths in the country to shun social vices and embrace godliness in their lives, saying it is the only way a youth can have a better and secure future.
Nkechi Rochas Okorocha made this remark, weekend, at the event to mark 2017 Diocesan Youth Day and Award presentation by the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria CYON, Okigwe Chapter held at St. Mary’s Cathedral Headquarters, Catholic Diocese of Okigwe, Imo State.
Represented by Dr. Joy Nnena Ezebuiro, former Adviser to the Imo State Governor on Women and Mobilisation and Empowerment, she said; “The best thing that will happen to any youth is to start a life with Christ, because with God, all things are possible.
“Youths are leaders of tomorrow and it will be difficult for any youth to talk about a future without making reference to the present. When a youth gets it right from the start, the future is secured and this will go a long way to curb social vices in the society.”
Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Acho Ihim, during his speech charged the youths to be vibrant and stand up for truth all time.
Catholic Bishop of Okigwe Diocese, Most Rev. Solomon Amatu, in his sermon during the mass service, admonished the youths to be honest and enshrine good morals in everyday life.
“Honesty they say is the best policy. Whatever you are doing, learn to be honest and don’t learn from the crooked bends to be dishonest. If we are not dishonest, we would not be talking about corruption in the country today. I encourage the youths of this country to be honest, show good morals and learn uprightness from childhood. When you do that, you resemble God who is the symbol of truth. At the same time, parents must always learn to inculcate in them these qualities to make them better in life.”
