PDP demands fresh election in Imo

The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded for fresh governorship election in Imo State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship election in the state inconclusive. Addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, said the election was rigged in favour of the ruling party in the state by INEC officials.

Metuh further alleged that there was violence in Owerri North and South local councils  while INEC officials were forced to alter results in Ideato North and Orlu local councils.

Metuh said: “The people of Imo State are demanding for fresh election and that is the only means to determine the winner.

“In Orlu local government, the  APC forced INEC officials to change the results. In Ideato North and Orlu, there was massive violence and Ideato South figures were forged.

“People of Imo have trooped out, demanding for fresh election.”

Metuh further accused the APC of trying to foist one party state on the country.

“We won’t keep quiet when figures are being altered in our strongholds. If they want the true cooperation of all political parties, let them play by the rules. They should let the will of the people of Imo State prevail.”
