Police nab robbery gang terrorising Bayelsa community


The police have arrested two suspected armed robbers who have allegedly been terrorising and disturbing the peace of Custom road in Biogbolo, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The police spokesperson in the state, DSP Asinim Butswat, in a statement yesterday said on October 30, 2018, at about 1630 hours, police personnel responded to a distress call that armed robbers were operating at Custom road in Biogbolo axis of Yenagoa, the state capital.

He said: “On sighting the police, the armed robbers ran away, but they were trailed to Ebis Road, still in Biogbolo, where one Zibasiri David ‘m’ 16 years, Loveday Pius ‘m’ 17 years were arrested. Two locally made pistols and three live cartridges were recovered from the suspects.”

He stated that the suspects have already confessed to be members of Greenland cult group, adding that investigation is ongoing after which they would be charged to court.
