Relocate your headquarters to Akwa Ibom or face fire! Militant group warns Exxon-Mobil

A new militant group “Oyobio-Oyobio” operating in the Niger-Delta region has given Exxon-Mobil Nigeria Unlimited seven days marching order to relocate its headquarters from Lagos to Akwa Ibom or face unpleasant consequences.

The warning was contained in a statement signed by the militant group’s Commander, General Obuma and made available to newsmen at Ibeno, the operational base of Exxon-Mobil at the weekend.

They asked MPN and other Oil Companies with operations in the state to relocate their headquarters to Akwa Ibom or face dire consequences.

It also urged Exxon-Mobil to carry out a thorough clean-up of the environment in the state as is being done in Ogoni land, Rivers State by Shell Petroleum and, called on all oil workers in the state both Onshore and Offshore to stay at home after the expiration of the 7-Day ultimatum for their own safety.

“Workers in oil companies operating in Akwa Ibom should stay away from work after the 7 days ultimatum for their safety,” the group warned.

The Manager, Media and Communications, MPN, Mr. Ogechukwu Udeagha, when contacted on the telephone, was reluctant to make oral clarifications on the matter especially on the company’s response to the ultimatum.

It can be recalled that a couple of weeks ago NNPC gas pipelines were blown up at Obotim Nsit in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, near Uyo, the state capital and houses and other property worth millions of Naira were destroyed.

The Niger-Delta Avengers (NDA), through a post by its Spokesperson, Brig-Gen. Mudoch Agbinibo in their official website claimed responsibility for that attack
