YENAGOA—AS politicians and their respective political parties battle for the various elective positions, five youth groups in Bayelsa State have thrown their weight behind former Managing Director of Niger Delta Develop-ment Commission, NDDC, Mr. Timi Alaibe, to contest governorship position in 2019.
The groups in Yenagoa said they are calling on the Opokuma-born businessman and politician to throw his hat into the arena to continue with the good works of Governor Seriake Dickson.
The groups—Timi Alaibe Youth Vanguard, Bayelsa State Advancement Movement, Alaibe Support Group, Committee for the Development of Bayelsa State and Concerned Progressive Youths of Bayelsa State— praised the level of transformation in the state.
They added that Timi Alaibe has the wherewithal to pilot the affairs of the state for the benefit of the people in line with strides already achieved by Governor Dickson.
Prince Peres Ogbogbo, who spoke for the groups, noted that Alaibe’s giant strides during his tenure at NDDC and as Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs have not been equalled by his successors, so they want him to replicate same in Bayelsa State.
He said: “The handwritings of Timi Alaibe is all over Niger Delta and beyond. Under his tenure in NDDC he constructed roads, electrified communities across the Niger Delta states.
“It should be noted here that he was the initiator of the amnesty programme that has restored peace in the region and empower our people by building their capacities both in Nigeria and abroad.”
