The CP said this through his Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Bala Elkana in Uyo, yesterday.

“We will not leave any stone unturned in going after the culprits behind last Sunday’s incident, where three persons, including a sister to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Udo Ekpeyong, were killed by gunmen in Ukanafun, ” he said.

DSP Elkana explained that Commissioner of Police, Muazu, was already in the area on a fact finding mission over a previous incident when the tragic incident happened, adding that the state command has sent a team of police investigators to trace the fleeing suspects.

While stating that four armed men who came on motorcycles had fled after carrying out the attack, he said that the  police have banned the use of motorcycles in Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas, from 6pm to 7am.

He said the ban on the use of motor-cycles was necessary because hoodlums in the two local government areas under security surveillance have been using motorcycles for some time now to commit crime.

He called on the indigenes of the affected areas and other citizens of the state to cooperate with the police, by volunteering information concerning the hoodlums among them to curb the crisis, as security is everybody’s responsibility.

The PPRO also disclosed that already community stakeholders in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area have agreed to work with the police to bring an end to the crisis, stating that similar approach would be deployed to solve the crisis in Ukanafun.
