Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has described the first civilian Governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke as a consummate gentleman whose brand of politics endeared him to many.
He consoled with the family of the late politician, saying Senator Adeleke’s deep reservoir of knowledge about the politics of the country would be missed by all.
“Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke was a perfect gentleman who will be missed by all. He was a peacemaker who believed in the principle of justice and fair play.
“I pray that God Almighty will grant the family and indeed our great country the fortitude to bear this great loss,” the Governor said.
Isiaka Adeleke, a member of the Nigerian Senate, representing Osun West Senatorial district, died at 62.
Adeleke died at Biket hospital in Osogbo at 6:00am on Sunday.
When his corpse was brought to his home in Ede town, the atmosphere became tense with friends and family members weeping uncontrollably.
Mr Adeleke was the first governor of the state in 1992, under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), was elected into the Senate in 2015 as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
